The centenary of the Homenetmen foundation was celebrated in the Netherlands

On November 24, Ambassador Tigran Balayan visited Almelo, where he was present in the event dedicated to the centenary of the Homenetmen foundation and sport competitions.

The representatives of the Armenian community organizations of Almelo, Amsterdam, Alkmaar and Arnhem, as well as the teams of the Netherlands AGBU, “Cilicia”, “Nor kyanq”, “Yerevan” unions were participating in the event in Almelo.

The event was opened by Fr. Mashtots Barseghyan of Almelo Holy Spirit church. The guests were also greeted by Minas Arsenyan, head of the Dutch Homenetmen organization.

In his speech Ambassador Balayan congratulated everybody on the occasion of the centenary jubilee of the Homenetmen, stressing that the all-Armenian body succeeded in accomplishing Homenetmen motto and dream of founding fathers, keeping Armenian spirit and educating and nurturing multiple generations of Armenian youth. Armenian Ambassador wished luck to the scout movement and reconfirmed Embassy’s support to the AGBU initiatives.

In the framework of the event there was also a ceremony of oath of the new scouts and a solemn march dedicated to the centenary.
