The Ambassador designate met with the Armenian community members of The Hague

25 November, 2018

On November 25, Ambassador designate Tigran Balayan visited “Abovian” cultural association of The Hague, where he had a meeting with the members of the Armenian community of The Hague as well as with the parents of the pupils of the Armenian Sunday school.

Welcoming and congratulating the Armenian Ambassador, head of the “Abovian” association and chair of the federation of the Dutch Armenian Association Mato Hakhverdian noted that although the newly-appointed Ambassador is not a newcomer to the Netherlands and to The Hague and has an experience of work with the Dutch side and Armenian community, the community is ready to support the Embassy in its projects aimed to the strengthening of the Armenian-Dutch ties.

Expressing his gratitude for a warm welcome, Ambassador Balayan noted that, during his working years in Brussels, the office of the “Abovian” association became a familiar address for him, where a lot of ideas were born and implemented. Armenian Ambassador assured that the cooperation established years ago will have a new impetus.

During the meeting Ambassador Balayan presented the recent events in Armenia, touching upon the parliamentary snap-elections and their importance, the directions of the economic development of the country and the government's steps. Ambassador also answered multiple questions of the attendees.

Armenian Ambassador stressed the participation of the Dutch Armenians to the development of Armenia, the creation of the new workplaces in Armenia and to the return to Armenia. In this context Tigran Balayan informed that it is envisaged to change the tax code after the elections and presented the privileges for foreign investors. Ambassador urged to tell about all this to the partners and to the potential investors.

Ambassador Balayan underlined: “I am ready to go with each one of you to the meetings with the businessmen who would have even a light interest in investing in Armenia or in products of Armenia, to negotiate, to present and to persuade them. I am sure that with joint efforts we can achieve results”.

After that there was a lecture in “Abovian” association dedicated to the 2800-year anniversary of Yerevan, where archaeologist Dr. Yannick Raczynski-Henk presented the history of the foundation of the fortress of Erebuni and its excavations and the discoveries in other archaeological sites in the territory of Yerevan.
