35th anniversary of Abovyan Union

On December 7, within the framework of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Komitas and Hovhannes Tumanyan, a concert and reception dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the “Abovian Center 1” union were held at the Koorenhuis Salon of The Hague.
The event was launched by the Abovyan Union Choir with Charles Aznavour's song "For You, Armenia", accordingly paying tribute to the victims of the earthquake, which took place 31 years ago.
Welcoming the participants of the event and congratulating the members of the Union, Ambassador Tigran Balayan said: "It felt like a throwback to June 2004, when I had just arrived in Brussels and I came to the Netherlands for accreditation at the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands. My first meeting near the Foreign Ministry was with Mato Hakhverdyan and Inge Drost and the Abovian Union’s address had since become a favorite place for me.
There are many occasions to celebrate today, and this is symbolic, as Abovyan's work is so diverse and polarized that it includes both political, economic, cultural and social components. From a simple cultural union, Abovyan has today become a unifying factor and an integral part of Armenian presence and activities in the Netherlands. Many of the success we have recorded would be difficult without the support and involvement of the Abovian Union and its active members.
Two days ago, a decision to open an embassy in Armenia was made by the House of Representatives of the Netherlands and it is one of the achievements mentioned above.
Given all this, the Abovyan Union is the first and so far, the only one of the dozens of Armenian organizations operating in the Netherlands which received the RA Prime Minister's Letter of Gratitude for long-term effective work in preserving the Armenian identity and protecting the interests of the Armenian people.
I wish the Abovian Union many effective initiatives and success in its important mission. Be assured that the Embassy stands by you in the realization of our common aspirations. "
During the concert Abovyan Union’s choir and dance group, the Black Sea Quintet, the Armenian Voices Choir made Komitas and Hovhannes Tumanyan's performances.
