Ambassador’s meeting with the Bishop of Amsterdam

On February 20, Tigran Balayan, Ambassador of Armenia to the Netherlands, accompanied by Vahan Avagyan, the chairman of the “Grigor Narekatsi” union and Father Taron Tadevosyan, the spiritual pastor of the Holy Spirit Armenian Church of Amsterdam, visited Haarlem where he met with Johannes Hendriks, the bishop of Amsterdam.

At the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the close and high level relations between Armenia and the Vatican, as well as the effective cooperation of the Armenian Apostolic and Roman Catholic Churches. In this regards, Ambassador Balayan emphasized the importance of Pope Francis' visit to Armenia in 2016 entitled "Pilgrimage to the First Christian Country", as well as the events which took place prior to and after the visit.

The bishop of Amsterdam was presented with the publication of the Dutch translation of the first 15 Prayers of Grigor Narekatsi's Book of Lamentations, initiated by the "Grigor Narekatsi" Union. The parties discussed the possibility of the publication’s joint presentation.

Bishop Johannes Hendrix welcomed the initiative, gave his blessing and expressed support fot the steps aimed at presenting the work of Grigor Narekatsi to the Dutch society.
