Ambassador’s meeting with the President of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ)

On April 1, Tigran Balayan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Netherlands, met Kees Sterk, President of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ) and Vice-president of the Council for the Judiciary in the Netherlands.

Ambassador Balayan pointed out the efforts made by the Armenian government to achieve full independence of judiciary system in Armenia, as well as delivered information about the functioning of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia, emphasizing the importance for Armenia to cooperate with existing European institutions in this field.

The President of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary gave a comprehensive overview on the functioning of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ) highlighting the perspectives of cooperation with partner countries, specifically with the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia.

During the meeting ideas towards the establishment of the cooperation between Armenian and Dutch judiciary systems were discussed, as well as how Dutch experience of ensuring the independence of judiciary system could be useful and be implemented in Armenia.
