The ambassador of Armenia met with the newly appointed director of the Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands

On August 5, ambassador Tigran Balayan met with Erica Schouten, the newly appointed director of the Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

During the meeting, thoughts on various issues of the expanding Armenian-Dutch agenda were exchanged.

Tigran Balayan and Erica Schouten referred to the high-level contacts planned in the near future and the schedule of mutual visits.

The interlocutors discussed the steps undertaken to deepen cooperation in the political, trade-economic and educational-cultural spheres. The issue of expansion of the treaty and legal basis was discussed. In this context, the two sides highlighted the importance of the speedy completion of the ratification process of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the Netherlands.

Ambassador Balayan presented the large-scale reforms going on in Armenia, highlighting the importance of the support of the Netherlands to the ongoing processes and strengthening of democratic institutions.

During the talk, issues related to the interaction of the two countries within the framework of international structures were discussed.

Taking the opportunity, Ambassador Balayan thanked for a number of programs, including training for Armenian specialists through the program ‘MATRA Rule of Law’ started this year.
