A reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of Armenia and a concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Komitas in The Hague

On October 10, a reception on occasion of the the Independence Day of Armenia and a concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Komitas took place at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, attended by the delegation led by the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan, President of the Dutch Senate Jan Antonie Bruijn. The event was also attended by officials from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of international organizations and courts in The Hague, religious, business and cultural circles, members of the Dutch-Armenian community.

At the beginning of the concert, the National Anthems of the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were played. In his welcoming address Tigran Balayan, Armenian Ambassador to the Netherlands welcomed all present, stressing that Komitas is the collective consciousness of Armenians, he summarizes our aspirations, our pain, and success.

The concert was performed by world renowned musicians violinist Sergey Khachatryan with pianist Lusine Khachatryan, who performed Komitas's "Krunk", "Apricot Tree", "Vagharashapat Dance", "Shushiki" and "Unabi",, "Poem-song" and "Toccata" by Aram Khachaturian, "Rabsodia" by Eduard Barseghyan and other works.

At the continued reception after the concert, the foreign guests, sharing their impressions, noted that Komitas' music is mystical and indescribable, and it should be presented to the world as much as possible, as a universal value.
