A festive event dedicated to the 150 anniversary of Komitas and Tumanyan in Armenian populated Almelo

On October 26, a festive event dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Komitas and Hovhannes Tumanyan was held at the Galust Gulbenkian Concert Hall, near to the St. Gregor the Illuminator Church in Almelo. The event was organized by the Council of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and by the local branches of the Armenian General Benevolent Union and the Armenian General Athletic Union.

The event was performed by the choir of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church and "Zartonk" Dance Ensemble.

Svetlana Andriasyan, The Director of St. Mesrop Mashtots Sunday School, and Minas Arsenyan, Chairman of Homenetmen, spoke about the legacy of Komitas and Tumanyan.

The event was attended by Tigran Balayan Ambassador of Armenia to the Netherlands. Tigran Balayan welcomed those present and thanked the organizers for organizing the event, emphasizing the importance of such events in terms of preserving the Armenian identity and spreading the culture. The Ambassador of Armenia shared the reactions on Lusine and Sergey Khachatryan's concert dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Komitas in The Hague, on October 10. Ambassador Balayan handed over the books of Hovhannes Tumanyan's fairy tales, translated in Dutch a few days ago, to the organizers of the event, emphasizing the importance of spreading the Armenian cultural heritage in the Netherlands and the important role of the Diaspora in this.

A festive concert followed by performances by Armenian singers Arpi, Arman Khachatryan, and Arsen Grigoryan.
