Meeting of Francophone Ambassadors Group with the Executive Director of Europol

On December 17, Tigran Balayan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in his duties of the Chairperson of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors accredited to The Hague, initiated a plenary session at the Europol headquarters. Mrs. Catherine De Bolle, Executive Director of Europol, attended the session as a guest of honor.
Welcoming the members of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors, Executive Director noted that it was a great honor for Europol to host the Ambassadors and present them the work of the organization, which coordinates the interactions of European law enforcement and anti-terrorism bodies.
Catherine De Bolle presented details of the aim of Europol’s creation and organization’s activity guidelines, as well as touched upon the impressive results achieved by Europol and the cooperation with non-EU countries. Member of the Group Francophone Ambassadors addressed various questions to the Executive Director on the activities of the organization.
During the second part of the meeting, the Francophone Ambassadors accredited to The Hague discussed issues related to the use of French language in international organizations.
The participants of the session unanimously endorsed the Armenian Ambassador's proposal for amendments to the Charter of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors, allowing Ambassadors of Associated and Observer Member States to participate in the work of the Group.
Members of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors also discussed issues related to the organization of Francophonie events in the Netherlands next year.
