Meeting between the Secretary Generals of the Armenian and Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs

On September 13, Vahagn Melikian, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia met Yoka Brandt, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The meeting started with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Gainful Employment of Family Members of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts.

Vahagn Melikian introduced the large scale and continuous program of reforms being implemented in Armenia since 2018 and touched upon the steps undertaken towards the strengthening of the rule of law, democratic institutions and fight against corruption.

Welcoming efforts the Armenian side for the consolidation of democracy in Armenia, Mrs. Brandt emphasized the significant activation of the Armenian-Dutch bilateral relations and the importance of the upcoming high-level meetings, considering them a vivid manifestation of the Netherlands' support. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to preserve and deepen the dynamics of political dialogue.

During the meeting, the sides had a detailed discussion on the structural issues of the foreign offices of the two countries, as well as innovative solutions, ongoing and planned reforms.

Secretary General of the Armenian Foreign Ministry invited his counterpart to visit Yerevan.

Vahagn Melikyan took a tour at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, got acquainted with the technological reforms and innovative solutions implemented in the system, visited the Newsroom of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with the Chief Information Officer and Director of Communication Department.
Vahagn Melikyan had a meeting with Henk van den Dool, the newly appointed Ambassador for Eastern Partnership Affairs of the MFA of the Netherlands, exchanging views on Armenia-European Union cooperation.
